Program directors
Laura Thigpen, Senior Education Administrator and Program Coordinator for the Pediatric Residency Program
Laura has been in Pediatrics since she came to UMMC in 2013 and has worked with many educational programs, including student education, residency, and fellowships. Her favorite thing about working with residents is watching them grow from shy interns into confident, capable graduating physicians.
She is married to Michael and has two adult daughters. They reside in Clinton, where Laura has lived most of her life. She loves SEC football, all things Disney, and vacations at the beach. Her favorite thing about Jackson is that there is always something new to do or try – a new restaurant, a local festival, or a new place to shop is always popping up!
